„FULLCORE“ BENCHMARK FOR VVER-440
22nd Symposium of AER on VVER Reactor Physics and Reactor Safety (2012, Průhonice, Czech Republic)
Advances in spectral and core calculation methods
Abstract
Because of difficulties with experimental validation of power distribution predicted by
macro-code on the pin level we decided to prepare calculation benchmark named ?FullCore?
for VVER-440. The submission of this benchmark was presented on the 21st Symposium of
AER in 2011.
The main task of this benchmark is to test the pin by pin power distribution in selected
fuel assemblies predicted by macro-codes that are used for neutron-physics calculations
especially for VVER-440 reactors.
The ?FullCore? benchmark is a 2D calculation benchmark based on the VVER-440
reactor core cold state geometry with taking into the account the geometry of explicit radial
reflector. The reference solution was calculated by MCNP code using Monte Carlo method
and sent to all participants. For comprehensiveness of reference results, the impact of different
Monte Carlo libraries and precision of calculation is studied.
In this paper we will in the first part present the results of this benchmark calculated
by MOBY-DICK macro-code.
In the second part a comparison of available macro-codes results of this benchmark
will be given.
