29th Symposium of AER on VVER Reactor Physics and Reactor Safety

The 29th Symposium continues the traditional series of annual meetings of the international association “Atomic Energy Research” (AER) on VVER reactor physics and safety research. The 28th Symposium was held in Olomouc, Czech Republic, in October 2018. The 29th Symposium will be organised by the VUJE, a. s. in co-operation with SE, a. s., main electricity producer at Slovakia.
The Symposium is opened to participants from AER member organizations as well as from other institutions involved or interested in VVER reactor physics and safety research.
DATE, LOCATION – VENUE FACILITIES
The 29th Symposium will take place from Monday, October 14, 2019 until Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Energoland Mochovce , Mochovce NPP, GPS coordinates: 48.256801, 18.455405. The centre is situated in Mochovce NPP areal, between towns Nitra and Levice. Distance from the capital Bratislava is about 120 km in direction to Zeleneč (highway D1), Nitra (highway R1), Vráble and Čifáre (road 51), and Mochovce NPP (secondary road 1652).
TOPICS FOR THE SYMPOSIUM
The proposed topics of meeting are:
- Advances in spectral and core calculation methods
- Reactor physics experiments and code validation (benchmarks)
- Fuel management issues
- Core surveillance and monitoring
- Reactor dynamics and safety analysis
- Nuclear applications of computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
- Fuel behaviour in normal conditions
- Intermediate storage of spent fuel, decommissioning and radwaste
- Spent fuel disposal and actinide transmutation
Progress reports of the AER working groups will be presented.
Papers, Proceedings and Working Language
Deadline for submission of abstracts of 200 – 300 words (a figure = 150 words) is September 6, 2019.
Full papers will be published on Symposium web-page and in the Symposium proceedings as a book.
Participants can provide a few copies of their papers for handout at the Symposium.
Authors are requested to send their full papers (as pdf-document) and presentations (as pdf- or pptx- document) by e-mail to radoslav.zajac@vuje.sk before the Symposium or use the aer web page and insert paper to aer web page or to provide them on a flash not later than at the opening date of the Symposium.
Normal conference equipment including PC with projector will be available.
If too many papers are submitted, there will be organised a poster session. Texts of papers presented there will also be included in the proceedings.
The working language of the Symposium and of the papers is English.
Registration and Fees
Final registration has to be made via web-page not later than September 6, 2019.
Participants from AER member organizations may take part in the Symposium without registration fee. Non-AER participants are charged with a registration fee of 150 EUR to be paid at the Symposium. This fee includes the Symposium proceedings.
Accommodation is available at hotels in the town Nitra. The approximate price of hotel room is about 50 EUR and more. Hotels at the Nitra down-town are recommended: Centrum, City, Alexanders Other hotels (Atrium, Capital, Comfort, De LUXE, 11, Sole, Oko and others) to be close to the transport starting point (48.314861, 18.087389). Transport to the Energoland Mochovce will be organised by bus from the Nitra centre at 07:45 and will take about 45 min.
Transport from Vienna and Bratislava airports is possible by utilisation of public transport (train, bus). It will be supported by help with travel schedule. Car travelers will be supported by maps and road informations.

Social Programme
The welcoming cocktail reception will be given on October 13, 2019 in Hofferka restaurant at 19:00 o’clock.
In addition to technical sessions tour throw the Mochovce NPP will be organised by SE, a. s. The meeting will include also organised tour to Nitra Castle. Meeting dinner will be offered for the pleasure of attendees and their spouses in Hofferka restaurant on October 17, 2019.
